This 14 question assessment provides insight into students' understanding of scientific inquiry. It covers topics of the difference between an observation and an opinion. It alos looks at topics that describe how the five sense can be used as well as simple experiment set ups. It looks at predictions as well as basic science tool usage. IT also looks at descriptions of things like size, shape, color etc. These variety of questions are presented in forms of multiple choice and short answer. An answer key is included.

Check out this fun and interactive supplement to Everybody Needs a Rock. I you don't have the text, this is still a great way for students to become aware of their rocks and minerals around them, and more cognizant of their Earth. Students will draw a picture of their rock (hopefully one they found outside) and will answer some questions below. This engaging activity will be the hit of the week!
Check out this awesome template in which students can practice using their five sense to describe an object. This can be adapted in a variety of ways as an introduction to the five senses, as a complimentary component to physical properties as students learn to describe objects. It can be used if specific items are given to them, or if they describe one using a 21 questions type of game, or simply being creative and making up a hypothetical object.
This simple and well-organized tracking form allows students to track the moon as it appears to them over a one month period. As explained in the directions, the students will draw a representation of the moon every three days totalling 10 images in 30 days. The students will have to record observation notes including components such as the time they observed it as well as anything else they noticed. They will also have to attempt to identify the moon phase. This student centered project can easily be assigned as a homework for students to realize that the moon phase changes gradually over a month period as well as how the time of day the moon is visible changes as well. Students will be so excited to be able to draw, and take ownership over something that is such a normal part of their world!
Invest students in building their vocabulary, increasing their spelling and improving their handwriting all while having fun! For these worksheets, students will draw an image on the beach, in the mountains, in the desert, and in the woods and then write what it is below each image. The drawing will allow great student buy-in and will hook them into wanting to label it. As students develop they can describe their image with more words and/or larger words!
This activity works perfectly as an introduction to a lesson, a fun homework, a quick assessment after learning new letters, or a Do Now to get students thinking!

Invest your students in stem fair and create easy documentation regarding project intent with this simple and user friendly submission for for science fair. Students will be required to list their required materials and answer a few questions about what they plan on doing for science fair. Students will sign their name and ate their submission form which will serve as a solid foundation moving forward as you track all students in your classroom.

Check out this fun and engaging scavenger hunt in which students will peer evaluate science fair projects. Each student or group of students will get a copy of this worksheet and will be required to walk around the class and evaluate the poster boards and projects of their peers.
